Baseball Instructor - Danny Higginbotham

Softball Instructor- Mike Mathews
Coach Mathews works with softball players of all ages and teaches hitting through the proper use of the body’s kinetic chain to increase power and improve hand path. Players will not only be taught how to make more efficient use of body movement through the swing, but also the science behind the “why”. Players are then encouraged to use the information to try to make corrections in game or as they are working on their own. They are also encouraged to participate in functional strength training and conditioning which will not only increase performance on the field, but also help build self-esteem and confidence.
Coach Mathews has coached competitive travel baseball and softball for the past 20 years. His travel teams have placed in the top 8 in National tournaments 5 times, with two National Championships along with over a dozen State Championships at various levels. Currently he coaches softball with Iowa Blitz/Iowa Gold at the 13U level and previously was the Head Varsity Softball Coach at Madrid High School for 3 years.

Baseball Instructor- Chase Brundage
Chase Brundage enters his fourth season coaching at DMACC. He assists with pitchers, recruiting, and organization of equipment and technology.
Before coming to DMACC, Brundage attended Urbandale High School and took part in two baseball state titles in 2018 and 2019. Brundage also has spent the past two summers coaching with Urbandale HS as the Head JV Baseball Coach and an Assistant with the Varsity. Brundage graduated from DMACC with an AA-Liberal Arts in the Spring of 2021. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor or Liberal Studies at Iowa State University.
